Founder & Director, Edinburgh
Charlie is originally from Edinburgh, but his passion for Arabic and skateboarding led him to setup SkatePal in 2013.
Since then, he has been coming back several times a year with a team of volunteers to build skateparks and teach skateboarding across the West Bank.
Charlie's favourite food is haggis and his favourite trick is the fakie 540 flip.
Project Liaison, London
Chris is a professional skateboarder living in London.
Chris first came to Palestine in 2014 as a SkatePal volunteer during the construction of Zebabdeh skatepark, and returned in 2015 to help build Asira skatepark, before taking on the role of Project Liaison.
Chris's favourite food is lentil soup and his favourite trick is the backside 360.
Regional Manager, Ramallah
Majd started skating in 2015 after meeting Charlie and the SkatePal team at the Ramallah Plaza. He is currently studying at Birzeit University and eventually plans to open Palestine's first skate shop.
Majd's favourite food is chicken and his favourite trick is the fakie-flip.
Video Editor & Graphic Designer, London
Phil is a freelance video editor and graphic designer living in London. He holds a BA in Development & Emergency Practice, with a thesis research in Conflict Resolution.
Phil first visited Palestine as a volunteer in 2007, hosting music workshops for young people in Bethlehem and since 2015 has been creating visual content for SkatePal.
Phil's favourite food is maqluba and his favourite trick is the shove-it.
Board of Trustees
Alastair is an academic, publisher, tutor and tour guide living in Edinburgh.
Outside of SkatePal, his board experience includes the British Flute Society and Variations. He currently holds an ESRC studentship at the University of Edinburgh where he is researching Scotland’s slavery past.
Caroline is an artist, beekeeper and airline pilot living in Edinburgh.
As well as being a trustee of Skatepal, Caroline sits on the board for the Scottish Churches Housing Action and the West Highland Museum. Caroline has never tried skateboarding but is keen to give it a go!
David was a partner in the Scottish legal firms Dundas & Wilson and Turcan Connell.
In addition to being a trustee of SkatePal, David is a director / trustee of Edinburgh Festival Society Ltd, Queenís Hall Ltd and many other arts organisations. He is an enthusiastic amateur singer with Haddo House Choral and Operatic Society.
